Party Poker was established way back in 2001, and runs on it's own Partypoker software. The poker room is part of the publically traded PartyGaming Plc located in Gibraltar and is widely known and recognised as one of the market leading online poker rooms. Since the UIGEA was signed into law in 2006, Partypoker no longer accepts US players and consequently it's stock value has dropped dramatically, but it remains one of the most popular online poker sites in the UK and Europe.

The Party Poker lobby resembles no other. Many features can be customised to your liking and navigation is easy. PartyCasino, Gammon, Bingo and Bets are accessible from within the lobby and are only a click of the mouse away. I myself, happen to like the look and feel of the PP software but many disagree - it's clearly a matter of taste.

Games & Tournaments

Party Poker offers a good variety of games, $0.02/0.04 to $25/50 NLHE tables are plentiful as well as Omaha/Omaha Hi-Lo games from $0.10/0.20 up to $10/20 PL & $30/60 FL. If you are a low-mid stakes NL player, you will always have many hundred ring games to choose from, day or night. The higher limit tables also run somewhat regularly. Plenty of active Omaha games up to $2/4 run 24/7, above that rarely. Overall, traffic is very high, many thousand players gather here at peak hours.

Tournament players, do not fear. There are plenty of MTTs to join, everything from freeroll tournaments to speed tournaments to guaranteed ones. Lots of qualifiers, both MTTs and STTs to Party Poker's flagship tournaments, the $300K "Guaranteed Sunday" and the "Party Poker Million". Daily higher buy-in tournament from $150-$300 exist for those who prefer.

Promotions And Support

The current sign-up bonus is 20% up to $100. There are better welcome bonuses out there but I will not discuss those here. Deposit $500 to receive the maximum bonus and play 1,000 raked hands to release it (10 raked hands for every bonus dollar). Occasional reloads are offered, mostly completely random that seem to nothing to do with how much you rake, or how many hands you play. I call them 'surprise bonuses' because that's what they are. Ranging from free money to deposit matches in the $100s with low wagering requirements usually makes them pleasant and welcome surprises.

Party Poker support/customer service is good, especially if you choose to contact them by phone. There is a freephone number to call from just about anywhere in Europe and Canada. Email support is so-so, sometimes you'll get an answer right away and sometimes not at all. This, of course, is not something Party Poker should be proud of, getting help is not supposed to be a lottery or a 50/50 chance.

Banking

Fund your Party Poker account using VISA/Mastercard, Neteller, Entropay, Moneybookers, ewire, ClickandBuy or Bank Transfer. As always, withdrawals to e-wallets are the fastest, somewhere around 2-4 hrs. Cashouts to VISA and by Bank Wire takes a couple of days, as usual, but cheques can take from 2-3 weeks.

Conclusion

Party Poker lost a big chunk of it's clientele after uncle Frist's 2006 coup (the UIGEA) ruled out US Players, but none-the-less it continues to offer a well-run poker site. As mentioned above, traffic is very high around the clock Combined with fast e-cashouts and an excellent phone support department, this establishment receives a well-above average rating. I do recommend playing here and I'd give it marginaly over 4 stars.
