Source: http://www.bluffed.netRelatively unknown poker pro victorious in hotly contested event 51 A relatively unknown poker professional from Denver, 29-year-old Yen Dang, survived a talented entry field of 936 players and a very competitive final table to claim event 51 - $1,000 buy-in No-Limit Hold'em Ladies Championship at the World Series of Poker over the weekend. Yen Dang had played in the World Series of Poker only once before as a law student back in 2005, but did not cash. She faced a final table that comprised Debbie Pechac, Janet Howard, Angela Prada-Moed, Candida Ross-Powers, Rae Rocco, Lesley Amos, Freda Lawrence and Anna Lundholm, which was ultimately distilled to just Dang and Debbie Pechac following the departure in third place of Janet Howard. Well respected names that did not make the final table included Erica Schoenberg, J.J. Liu, Leo Margets and Marsha Wolak. Dang, who had retained the chip lead since level 22, held on to it going into heads up play at level 24 with blinds at 12,000-24,000 with a 4,000 ante. She did not let that lead go, eliminating her final opponent to claim the main prize of $170,587 and her first WSOP bracelet. Debbie Pechac used her tournament experience and talent to good effect, but she was unable to shake the young professional from Denver, and had to be content with a second placing check for $105,586. Dang has been playing full-time for about five years...expect to hear more about this up-and-coming player.
