Matt Matros claims his third WSOP bracelet in three years

Matt Matros, a professional poker player from New York, claimed his third World Series of Poker winner's bracelet in three consecutive years over the weekend when he bested an entry field of 1,604 to win event 16, a $1,500 buy-in No-Limit Hold'em Six Handed competition.

In addition to the winner's check for $454,835, Matros can take pride in the knowledge that he is now one of only 25 poker stars who hold three WSOP bracelets after playing against some of the world's best.

Matros faced Mark Radoja, Ramey Shaio, Gordon Vayo, Robert Muzzatti and Mark Darner on the final table, with the latter a particularly dangerous rival who almost eliminated Matros on Day 2 the event.

Although Matros was one of the short stacks on the table, he was able to improve his position to finally end in the heads up against Mark Radoja, where he continued to build on his lead until he was able to eliminate his last opponent and send him home with a second placing worth $281,502.
