Monette faced a final table comprising Timothy Finne, Perry Friedman, Jeff Lisandro, Mark Di ckstein, Bryn Kenney and Ray Dehkharghani, with Lisandro the heavy favourite to add yet another WSOP bracelet to his collection, but the confident and big-talking Monette showed that he was more than capable of writing the cheques his mouth tends to write, dominating the action and demonstrating considerable talent and skill. Top players who did not make the final table included Eugene Katchalov and Nick Shulman, underlining the high ace content of this competition. Another indicator was the fact that half of the 16 players who ultimately cashed in the event were WSOP bracelet holders. The heads up between Monette and Huu Vinh was a brief affair, with Monette starting from a 6-1 chip lead and taking only 20 minutes to despatch his opponent. There was a sense of deja vu on the last hand, where Monette used a pair of jacks to triumph, the same cards with which he won at last year's WSOP victory. For Monette it was a win worth $190,826, taking his career winnings above $1.2 million, along with the pride that goes with achieving a second World Series of Poker bracelet against some of the most potent players in the world. His first bracelet came in the eight game mix event last year. Huu Vinh's second placing earned him $117,913.
