Marcelo Ramos Da Fonseca shows 'em how it's done...

Marcelo Ramos Da Fonseca, a regular tournament player from Brazil, is the latest PokerStars.net Latin American Poker Tour Punta del Este champ, beating tough opponent Angel Guillen in the heads up to take home $144,240 in prize money and the honours over the weekend.

Chip leader when the final table formed on the third day of the Uruguay event was fellow Brazilian Francisco Baruffi Neto on 1,346,000, closely chased by Argentinians Guido Ruffini on 1,259,000 and Ivan Luca with 1,254,000.

Da Fonseca was at that point around the middle of the pack, along with Osvaldo Silvio Resquin, Vladimir Dobrovolskiy, Carlos Leoncio Mironiuk, Pablo Melogno and low chip man Angel Guillen, a Pokerstars pro.

By the time the action reached three handed play, Da Fonseca, Guillen and Neto were ready to agree a deal that guaranteed each at least $116,240 but left $38,000 on the table for the winner.

Shortly thereafter Neto was eliminated by Guillen, and it was down to Da Fonseca and Guillen in the heads up...but there was a further interval whilst the two survivors negotiated a further chop, this one allocating another $10,000 to whoever ended up in second place, leaving an additional $28,000 for the ultimate winner.

When play resumed Anguillen held the chip lead, but that was soon turned around by Da Fonseca as play slowed to a crawl and eventually petered out as Guillen's stack was steadily depleted. The Pokerstars pro's second placing was worth $126,240.
