New app enables players on Facebook to select their dream team

In a move clearly timed to coincide with the advent of the World Series of Poker next week, 3D online poker operator PKR has launched a new Facebook-friendly app that enables users to select their own fantasy poker team for the industry's biggest poker championship, and share it with their friends.

Players are given a notional $100 million to spend in putting their virtual teams together in a league structure, selecting eight players per team from a possible list of 180 top names in the game. Teams will score based on finishing position in 59 bracelet events.

PKR is spicing up the competition with prizes that include an iPad 3 for the league's eventual winner crowned once the Main Event's final table has been reached and a range of poker chip sets for the next best performers.

Fantasy sports are all the rage, said PKR Community Manager Dan Grant, but the online poker world is lacking its own established WSOP equivalent. While poker's biggest stars are making history in Vegas in the coming weeks, we'll be following their progress even more closely and sharing in their success. The Fantasy Poker League is our first Facebook app, and one that we hope thousands of players across the world will enjoy.
