Allan Le the winner of the Manila Millions Super High Roller

There were global aces aplenty competing in the Asian Poker Tour Manila Millions Super High Roller Friday, yet none of them were successful as the title and the big pay day fell to Allan Le, a pro from California who enjoyed his biggest win yet, boosting career earnings to almost $2 million.

Le's take-home on this event in the Philippines - reputedly the richest in the region yet - was HKD $13,080,000 (around $1.685 million) - a spectacular return on his nevertheless steep buy-in investment of $129,000.

It was an impressive feat, considering that the 30-entry field included many professionals and names like Tom Dwan, Phil Ivey, JC Tran, Johnny Chan, Nam Le, John Juanda and Joe Hachem, none of whom were in the five-player cash bubble.

On the final table Le faced off against Devan Tang, Sun Sheng, Richard Yong and Keith Gipson. His stack was middle-of-the-pack until he managed to get on the right track by doubling up against Tang, positioning himself strongly to not only survive but triumph.

The heads up was a tough, hour-long affair in which Le again found himself tangling with the adept Chinese player Devin Tang. It turned out to be a thrilling affair with the lead changing five or six times before Le managed to eliminate his tenacious opponent.

The runner up pay-outs looked like this:

2. Devan Tang - $1.05 million

3. Sun Sheng - $632,000

4. Richard Yong - $463,500

5. Keith Gipson - $380,000
