It was Lew's first major live tournament victory, made all the more remarkable by the fact that he started final table action as the low stack man, facing chip leader Kai Yat Fam on 4,515,000; Daniel Spiedelmann, Jeff Rossiter, Zuo Wang. David Steicke, Daniel Nordstrom,Jimmy Pan and Zheng Tai Tan. And on the journey to the final confrontation several top international aces, including Phil Ivey, fell by the wayside. Towards the end, it was Lew who busted Kai Yat Fam and Zuo Wang to build momentum and take the chip lead, only to lose it to Aussie player Jeff Rossiter as the match entered three handed action with the elimination of Spielmann in the fourth spot. However, the Australian's luck and cards ran out in the next few hands and he found himself out in third, setting up the heads up between Lew and local pro Jimmy Pan (24). Heads up, the duo battled on for around a dozen hands in a fairly evenly matched passage of play before Lew managed to gain the upper hand, enabling him to dispatch Pan a few hands later when he hit two pair on the flop to Pan's top pair. It was Lew's biggest live tourney win yet, leaving Pan with the runner up prize of HKD$2,367,000 (USD $303,686) Said a delighted Lew after the game: "My heads-up opponent was a very competent player. I felt very confident though, in heads-up, because I play a lot of heads-up online against good players."
