Zimnan Ziyard's biggest career win yet at Euro 347,000

UK poker pro Zimnan Ziyard was celebrating as the weekend drew to a close, having won the Pokerstars European Poker Tour Loutraki in Greece, thereby earning his biggest career payout to date at Euro 347,000.

The tournament attracted 336 players from 38 nations and took four days to play out, with ZZ starting the final table with a chip count of 2.77 million over John Taramas 1,755,000; Hauke Heseding 1,660,000; Mario Puccini 1,077,000; Pierre Mothes 1,073,000; Florian Schleps 850,000; Charalampos Kapernopoulos 749,000; and Andras Kovacs 210,000.

The German pro Hauke Heseding proved to be Ziyard's only serious threat, and the chip lead changed between the two during the final table action before they clashed in the heads up after John Taramas was eliminated at third.

At that point Heseding held the upper hand, making the next two hours an exciting spectacle for the railbirds as the two men fought it out, the chip lead changing several times as the game progressed.

In the end it was so close that there was briefly some uncertainty as to who the winner was, with a dealer count resolving the issue. Heseding well and truly earned his second placing pay check of Euro 221,800 for a very creditable performance against a talented opponent.
